Position description The Department of Pediatrics and Mattel Children's Hospital of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA seeks a faculty member at an Instructor or Assistant Professor level to join the Division of General Pediatrics in the Health Sciences Clinical track (rank commensurate with academic qualifications.) Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics. Duties include patient care, teaching of fellows and residents, and conducting research or other scholarly endeavors that will lead to academic promotion. Preference will be given to candidates with high potential and/or demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funding and publishing papers. Experience in teaching is a strong plus. Our department also includes a robust health services research group with emphasis on delivery of care, racial justice, health care disparities, immigrant health, school education, and multi-systems approaches to health care. The overall percent effort in clinical care, research and education will be negotiable based on funding and the needs of the Department. The David Geffen School of Medicine provides ample opportunities for professional development as well as education and research. The DGSOM has recently redesigned the medical student curriculum such that there are new roles for educators taking students for longitudinal teaching in both clinical and research settings. The Department of Pediatrics has over 30 Divisions and Programs.
